elcome to Garfield Park Baptist Church!
Thank you for visiting our website! We welcome you with the love of God!
An urban south church, Garfield sits directly across from our city's beautiful Garfield Park. We are a church seeking to shine the light of Jesus Christ through ministries of discipleship, compassion, and prayer.
Please take a moment to browse the website and discover who we are! As American Baptists we practice the call to live as people of prayer, passion, and purpose. On this site you will learn about our worship, our discipleship/Sunday School ministry, and our ministry groups such as American Baptist Youth, American Baptist Women's ministry, choir, and the food pantry.
Our mission at Garfield Park is to worship God and to be transformed into faithful disciples who serve God and others by being a loving family where everybody is somebody and Jesus is Lord.
Our vision is to Bring New Light to the Park.
We value: Fellowship and friendship as the Family of God, Faith, Compassion, Humor and Joy, Mission and Service, Spirituality, Prayer, Perseverance, and Love.
Our midweek study is a great time to dig deeper into the Word. We go through the Bible, one book at a time. The service begins on Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. with a time of worship and is followed by an in-depth study ending around 8:45 p.m. Childcare is provided for children up to 6th grade. The youth will be meeting in their room during the service.
Childcare is provided during all our services for children ages 0-3. Sunday School for children from pre-school age to 6th grade and the youth groups for Jr. High and High Schoolers are also available. We recommend dropping your children off 15 minutes early so you can fully enjoy fellowship and the service. We also request that you pick them up within 15 minutes from the end of service.
We believe in the Trinity: God as Creator, Jesus Christ as crucified and risen, and the Holy Spirit as our Comforter and Guide. We believe in the power of prayer and that God loves us; therefore we love others through serving. We believe in Salvation as sinners, forgiven and saved by God through the grace of Jesus Christ.
We believe the Church is a community of believers called by God, set apart, to bring the Good News of God's reconciling grace through Christ to all people; to practice justice; to love others; and to walk humbly with God.
We believe in the Bible as the inspired word of God and that the foundation of the Christian life is to worship God as the Body of Christ, to Study, and to Serve.
We also believe in the practice and affirmation of Believer's Baptism.
Please visit us on Sunday mornings at 9:30 A.M. for worship, followed by fellowship time and Sunday School for all ages!
Blessings and peace in the name of Christ,
